CRISIS MANAGEMENT: HONDA MALAYSIA TO RECALL 21,956 CITY AND 1,680 JAZZ VEHICLES

As most of you should know if you’ve been keeping up with the news on this site, there has been a recall for the 1st generation Honda Jazz and the 2nd generation Honda City (based on the 1st gen Jazz) worldwide due to a issue where water could possibly enter the power window switch and potentially cause a fire.

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be participating in the exercise, but they also reported that there are currently no reported incidents in Malaysia. There are currently 12,935 units of 2nd Generation City 2008 YM with 7,713 units of V-TEC and 5,222 units of i-DSI respectively. As for the Jazz, there are 3,090 units of 1.4-litre Japan made 2003 YM.

Honda Malaysia says that when the power window master switch is exposed to excessive amount of water (such as rainwater), especially when windows are left open for prolonged period of time, electrolyte materials from rainwater would sip into the power window switch unit. This would decrease the insulation resistance between the electric circuits, which could lead to current leaks. In severe cases, the switchboard would melt or burn. According to Honda Malaysia, there are a total of 3 burn cases reported so far, 2 in the US and 1 in South Africa.

“We sincerely apologise to our customers and deeply regret the inconvenience caused by this predicament. It is our priority to put our customers first. We will be writing to all our customers directly and inform them of the preemptive measures to address this situation. We are in the midst of preparing the replacement parts and we will then carry out the necessary inspection and replacement when the parts are ready. All charges incurred in the inspection and replacement work will be borne by the Company. We would like to assure our customers that all current selling models are not affected,” said Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia.

Of course, this recall exercise should logically only apply for customers who bought their Jazz from Honda Malaysia. But being a popular JDM model, there are most likely be grey import units out there as well. These owners have to somehow do something about it as well.

The company is in the midst of preparing the replacement parts. Necessary inspection and replacement will be carried out when the parts are ready, and all charges incurred in the inspection and replacement work will be borne by the company. Honda Malaysia added that all its current selling models are not affected.

They will assist owners of grey import cars without discrimination but they are unable to confirm at time of publishing whether any work on grey import customers cars regarding to this update will be subject to any charges or not.

HIGHLIGHT: RM1b Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera launched

PELABURAN Hartanah Bhd (PHB), a subsidiary of Yayasan Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera, today launched a RM1 billion investment fund to help Bumiputera entrepreneurs own properties.

The "Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera" launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is open to Bumiputera entrepreneurs with an initial investment of only RM500.

"Under the Syariah-compliant investment scheme, Bumiputeras will indirectly have an opportunity to own equities in major properties. The unit trust will be sold at RM1 a unit," said PHB managing director and chief executive officer Kamalul Arifin Othman at the launch of the scheme.

He said PHB was collaborating with Maybank to facilitate smooth transaction of the scheme.

"Bumiputera entrepreneurs who are keen to participate in the scheme can go to the 400-odd Maybank branches nationwide to buy the AHB units," he said.

On AHB returns, Kamalul Arifin assured investors that the returns would not be less than six per cent per annum based on the property sector's performance at the Golden Triange area.

He said the PHB would continue to identify business opportunities through acquisition of premier assets and developing properties particularly in the commercial property development sector.

"We are also looking to grow the fund size by another RM500 million by next year," he added.

Established in May 2006, PHB is an investment holding company, which currently owns properties worth in excess of RM1 billion in and around the Klang Valley.

Nothing much to say. Just want to share with all of you this two pictures. Our pre-convocation pictures. Taken after we took our robes. We hired 2 photographers. One of them doing full time. His art work is flawless. I'm totally impressed. He charged RM100 per DVD full with all of our pictures from various angles and stunts, then we shared the DVD with all of us. It was totally worth it. I won't hesitate to hire him as my wedding photographer. ~~Hopefully he won't charge me that expensive.~~ LOL. Nak yang terbaik, tapi harga nak yang murah2 je la pulak kan... hehe... Hari ni bukak Yahoo page, aku tertarik dengan article ini. Dollar ReDe$ign Project telah diadakan untuk memberi wajah baru kepada wang kertas Dollar Amerika sekarang. Antara design yang paling menarik dan kreatif adalah Dollar design seperti di bawah ini, Karya Dowling Duncan.

Why a vertical format? "When we researched how notes are used we realized people tend to handle and deal with money vertically rather than horizontally," they note on the Dollar ReDe$ign Project's website. "You tend to hold a wallet or purse vertically when searching for notes. The majority of people hand over notes vertically when making purchases. All machines accept notes vertically. Therefore a vertical note makes more sense."

Although it was creative and very relevant, however, it looks fancy to me. Comel betul rasanya kalau berurusan menggunakan wang yang colourful. hohoho...

Sekarang tengah slesema. dah nak dekat seminggu. hari tu pegi klinik fatimah, jb. aku beli ubat selesema. erm... erm... tanpa rujuk kepada doktor dahulu. huhu... skali staff kaunter tu bagi aku satu jenis ubat nie. Satu kotak RM10. Ade 10 tablet. Kena makan ubat tersebut 2 kali sehari, selepas makan. Nama ubat tersebut Ezede.

Seperti yang di describe di atas, satu tablet bersamaan dengan 10mg loratadine. Pas tu aku baca2 lagi, ubat ni berada dalam kategori Antihistamines & Antiallergics. Er... aku bukannye allergy... tapi makan je la. dah habis RM10 kot aku beli ubat nie. Aku makan je la. Tapi memang sangat mangkuk. Dah habis tablet ni aku telan, tak sembuh2 jugak. Dah la mahal. Kalau aku mintak pandangan doktor kang, jadi RM25 lak kang. huhu... lepas aku baca2 kat internet, baru aku tau ubat ni lebih sesuai untuk cure allergies dan gatal2. Agaknye aku kena bagitau awek tu aku dapat flu ni sebab makan ABC sampai perut kembung, baru awek kaunter tu bagi ubat lain yang dia rasa sesuai kot. Rasa marah kat diri sendiri dan awek kat kaunter tu lak. huhu...

Berat bersih per tablet pon macam lagi banyak. 2.5mg triprolidine HCl dan 60mg pseudoephedrine per tablet. Berbeza dengan Ezete, lepas aku makan 1 tablet fedac, aku rasa sangat pening. Aku makan masa sahur td. Sampai sekarang pon kepala masih rasa sakit. Ngantok dah hilang dah. Walaupon ubat ni pon dalam kategori Antihistamines & Antiallergics, ubat ini jugak jatuh dalam ketegori Cough & Cold Preparations. . So aku harap kali ni aku telah membuat keputusan yang lebih tepat untuk makan ubat nie.... walaupon aku masih lagi slesema skrg. huhu... harap2 akan sembuh tak lama lagi. srooot.... THE INAUGURAL 1MALAYSIA CONTEMPORARY ART TOURISM UNVEILED
A New Art Wave to Attract High-Yield Tourists by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 JULY 2010 – Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Hj Mohd Yassin today officially launched the inaugural “1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism 2010” (or MCAT 2010) at Galeria Seri Perdana here.

The MCAT 2010 Festival - a new and innovative tourism product by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia - is a three-month long event that will be held from July to September annually.

The Festival, a brainchild of the Minister of Tourism Dato’ Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, is aimed at attracting high-yield tourists to Malaysia. It is also a bold and innovative initiative to establish Malaysia as a hub for contemporary art in the region.

MCAT 2010 will showcase the most explosive, dynamic and provocative art works by internationally-acclaimed Malaysian artists. It will also feature the Aliya & Farouk Khan collection of local contemporary arts as well as the works of other local artists.

Speaking at the launch, YB Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen said “The 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism Festival (or MCAT 2010) would be the platform for the entry of Malaysia as a serious player in the regional art scene. We hope MCAT 2010 will place Malaysia in good stead as the Beijing Contemporary Art Fair, Dubai Contemporary Art Fair, Vienna Art Fair and Hong Kong Art and Antiques Fair.”
YB Dato’ Sri Ng Yen Yen envisaged the MCAT 2010 festival, a long-term strategy by the Ministry to woo greater high-yield tourists, would churn out more economic spin-offs, in line with her vision of boosting the Malaysian tourism sector’s contributions to the national coffers by 2.1 times or RM115 billion and providing two million job opportunities by 2015.

Sharing the Government’s support for MCAT 2010, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin, who described the event as an innovative new tourism product, welcomed joint initiatives by the public and private sectors in creating new and creative tourism products.

The 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism Festival, is one such innovative tourism product and I am confident it would further boost the nation’s profile as a top tourist destination and simultaneously contribute towards greater economic growth for our country.

MCAT 2010 also augurs well with the Government’s call for more new, dynamic and innovative strategies to cater to unique and distinctive travelers. In this case, high-yield tourists who prefer the finer things in life; he added.

The main highlights of the festival will be several exhibitions showcasing exciting and vibrant works by some of the best internationally-acclaimed Malaysian artists, both young and established personalities such as Abdul Multhalib Musa, who is regarded as one of Malaysia’s leading contemporary sculptors; Fauzan Omar, Annuar Rashid; abstract expressionist Yusoff Ghani; Eng Hwee Chu; visual artist/writer A Jegadeva; Dhavinder Gill and many more.

Besides Galeria Seri Perdana, local and foreign visitors will have the opportunity to view their works at Starhill Art Gallery, the National Art Gallery, PETRONAS Gallery, Malaysia Tourism Centre (or MaTiC); Folk Art Gallery in Melaka and IMCAS 2010 Danga City Mall in Johor.

During the MCAT 2010 Festival, a series of seminars and talks on Malaysian contemporary art by internationally-acclaimed speakers such as Mika Kuraya from Japan and Russell Storer from Australia will also be held.

The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia has also produced “Tourism Art Trail” – a directory that lists contemporary art galleries as well as events, including those that our visitors can participate.

The directory will highlight public and private galleries, the 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism Exhibition, seminars and talks on Malaysia’s contemporary art scene.

MCAT 2010, the brainchild of YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng as an effort to spur the development of the local contemporary art scene, is the first ever Malaysia’s contemporary art event and will be held annually from July to September each year. It will showcase the most explosive, dynamic and provocative art produced by internationally-acclaimed Malaysian-born artists, and hosting of exhibitions as well as seminars nationwide.

For a start, MCAT 2010 is aimed at establishing Malaysia as a reputable destination for art aficionados in the region to enjoy and acquire contemporary art, with museum-quality pieces. It is also hoped to create initiates among owners of art galleries to launch new pieces by young artists that will set the trend for the next few years.

Speaking at a media conference, YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng said the Ministry believes that MCAT 2010 will educate, excite and inspire both local and foreign visitors particularly on the beauty and variety of contemporary art.

“We are indeed very glad to introduce MCAT – Malaysia’s first Contemporary Art Tourism Festival. With rising interest and demand for contemporary creative works, I hope that this event will serve as a meeting point for art enthusiasts, gallery owners, artists as well as new generation of collectors from all over the world in forging business alliance, acquiring new contemporary art works, sharing ideas and exchanging information - all under one roof. Of course, to discover and learn about the new contemporary Malaysia.”

“The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia hopes through 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Festival, we will be able to attract more high-yield tourists which is expected to also increase the contribution towards the economic spin-off through new market niche areas in the tourism industry.

“Through this new innovative, tourism industry being among the 12 main National Key Economic Areas (NKEA), we believe the country will be able to achieve the goal as stated in the 10th Malaysia Plan that the industry will contribute RM115 billion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with two million jobs created by 2015,” added Dato’ Sri Dr Ng.

Local and foreign visitors who enjoy spending time browsing in art galleries, will have the opportunity to view many sculptures and art works, revealed for the first time in Kuala Lumpur at Galeria Seri Perdana, Starhill Art Gallery, National Art Gallery, PETRONAS Gallery, Malaysia Tourism Centre (or MaTiC); Folk Art Gallery in Melaka and IMCAS 2010 Danga City Mall in Johor.

Among the key highlights of the Festival will be a display of Aliya and Farouk Khan’s personal collection as well as several exciting and vibrant works by some of the best internationally-acclaimed Malaysian artists, both young and established ones such as Abdul Multhalib Musa, who is regarded as one of Malaysia’s leading contemporary sculptors; Fauzan Omar; Annuar Rashid; abstract expressionist Yusoff Ghani; Eng Hwee Chu; visual artist/writer A. Jegadeva; Dhavinder Gill and many more.

Other art works that will be showcased include those by Ahmad Zaki Anwar, Hamir Saib, Tan Chin Kuan, Shooshie Sulaiman, Eng Hwee Chu, Umi Baizurah Mahir, Kaw Leong Kang, Anthony Chang, Rajinder Singh, Bayu Utomo, Fauzan Mustapha, Stephen Menon, Ivan Lam and the list goes on. Besides the presence of curators and art collectors during the three-month period, world-renowned speakers such as Mika Kuraya from Japan and Russell Storer from Australia will also be there to conduct the seminars.

The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia is also highlighting the Festival via its “Tourism Art Trail” - a directory that contains a listing of contemporary art galleries, seminars and talks on Malaysia’s contemporary art scene, information on places where tourists can visit as well as events that they can attend or participate.

Karate Kid: I will never say never!

The first Karate Kid was released on 1984. The main actor was Ralph George Macchio and his teacher was Noriyuki "Pat" Morit. The movie was directed by John G. Avildsen and it was a success. This year, director Harald Zwart has attemped to remake the movie and it was outstanding and a very great remake. I think, the tiny thing that might become the issue is that Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) in the first Karate Kid was really trained to practice Karate, compared to Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) which was trained to practice Kung fu. However, the remake will not let you down. 5 star!

Karate Kid (1984)

High school senior Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) moves with his mother (Randee Heller) from Newark, New Jersey to Reseda, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. Their apartment's handyman is an odd but kindly and humble Okinawan immigrant named Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita).

Daniel meets Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), a high school cheerleader, but earns the anger of her ex-boyfriend, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), a karate student. Johnny is the best student at the Cobra Kai dojo, where he is taught an unethical, vicious form of martial arts. Daniel knows some karate from books, and from a few months' experience at the YMCA, but is the victim of repeated beatings from Johnny and his friends.

When Miyagi witnesses one of the beatings, he intervenes and defeats all five Cobra Kai with ease. Awed, Daniel asks Miyagi to be his teacher. Miyagi refuses, but agrees to go with Daniel to the Cobra Kai dojo in order to resolve the conflict. They confront the sensei, John Kreese (Martin Kove), an ex-Special Forces Vietnam Veteran who sneers at the concepts of mercy and restraint. Kreese and Miyagi agree to a match between Johnny and Daniel in two months' time at the "All Valley Karate Tournament", where Cobra Kai students can fight Daniel on equal terms. Miyagi also requests that the bullying stop while Daniel trains. Kreese orders his students to leave Daniel alone, but threatens that if Daniel does not show up for the tournament, the harassment will resume and Miyagi will also become a target.

Miyagi becomes Daniel's teacher and, slowly, a surrogate father figure. He begins Daniel's training by having him perform laborious chores such as waxing cars, sanding a wooden floor, painting a fence, and refinishing Miyagi's house. Each chore is accompanied with a specific movement, such as clockwise/counter-clockwise hand motions. Daniel eventually feels frustrated, believing he has learned nothing of karate. When he expresses his frustration, Miyagi reveals that Daniel has been learning defensive blocks through muscle memory learned by performing the chores.

As Daniel's training continues "in the open," his bond with Miyagi becomes closer. He learns that Miyagi lost his wife and son in childbirth at Manzanar internment camp while he was serving overseas with the United States Army during World War II. The loss of his family and Daniel's loss of his father further strengthens the father-son surrogacy. Daniel also discovers that the outwardly peaceful and serene Miyagi was a recipient of the Medal of Honor for heroism against German forces in Europe.

Through the teaching, Daniel learns not only karate but also important life lessons such as the importance of balance, reflected by the belief that martial arts training is as much about training the spirit as the body. Daniel applies the life lessons that Miyagi has taught him to strengthen his relationship with Ali.

At the tournament, Daniel surprises everyone by reaching the semi-finals. Johnny advances to the finals, scoring three unanswered points against a highly skilled opponent. Kreese instructs Bobby Brown, one of his more compassionate students and the least vicious of Daniel's tormentors, to disable Daniel with an illegal attack to the knee. Bobby reluctantly does so, injuring Daniel but getting disqualified in the process. With Daniel unable to continue, Miyagi assures him he has already proven himself. Despondent, Daniel believes that if he does not continue, his tormentors will have gotten the best of him. He persuades Miyagi to use a pain suppression technique to allow him to finish the tournament. As Johnny is about to be declared the winner by default, Daniel hobbles into the ring.

Kreese directs Johnny to repeat unethical moves to achieve victory. Despite the moves, Daniel gets up each time. Ultimately Daniel and Johnny are tied. Daniel, barely able to stand, assumes the "Crane Kick" stance and delivers a blow to Johnny's chin, winning the tournament. Johnny, having gained newfound respect for his adversary, takes Daniel's trophy from the Master of Ceremonies and presents it to Daniel himself. Miyagi looks on proudly as Daniel celebrates his victory.

Karate Kid (2010)

12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) and his mother (Taraji P. Henson) arrive in Beijing from Detroit to start a new life. Dre develops a crush on a young violinist, Mei Ying, who reciprocates his attention, but Mei Ying's classmate Cheng, a kung fu prodigy whose family is close to Mei Ying's, attempts to keep them apart by beating Dre, and later harassing and humiliating him in and around school. During a particularly brutal beating by Cheng and his friends, the kindly maintenance man of Dre's building, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), comes to Dre's aid, revealing himself as a kung fu master who adeptly dispatches Dre's tormentors.

After Han mends Dre's injuries using fire cupping, they go to Cheng's teacher, Master Li, to attempt to make peace, but the brutal Li, who teaches his students to show no mercy to their enemies, challenges Dre to a fight with Cheng. When Han declines, Li threatens him, saying that they will not be allowed to leave his school unless either Dre or Han himself fights. Han acquiesces, but insists the fight take place at an upcoming "Open Kung-fu Tournament"(LOL!), and that Li's students leave Dre alone until the tournament. The amused Li agrees.

Han begins training Dre, but Dre is frustrated that Han merely has Dre spend hours taking off his jacket, hanging it up, dropping it, and then putting it back on again. After days of this, Dre refuses to continue, until Han explains to him that the repetitive arm movements in question were Han's method of teaching Dre defensive block and strike techniques, which Dre is now able to display instinctively when prompted by Han's mock attacks. Han emphasizes that the movements Dre is learning apply to life in general, and that serenity and maturity, not punches and power, are the true keys to mastering the martial arts. During one lesson in the Wudang Mountains, Dre notices a female kung fu practitioner copying the movements of a cobra before her, but Han informs him that it was the cobra that was imitating the woman, as in a mirror reflection. Dre wants Han to teach him this technique, which includes linking Han's hand and feet to Dre's via bamboo shafts while practicing their forms, but Dre's subsequent attempt to use this reflection technique on his mother is unsuccessful.

As Dre's friendship with Mei Ying continues, she agrees to attend Dre's tournament, and does Dre her upcoming recital. After sharing a kiss at an outdoor festival, Dre persuades Mei Ying to cut school for a day of fun, but when she is nearly late for her violin recital, which has been rescheduled for that day, Mei tells him that her parents have deemed him a bad influence, and forbid her from spending any more time with him.

When Dre finds Han drunk and despondent, he learns that it is the anniversary of his wife and son's deaths, which occurred years ago when he lost control of his car while arguing with his wife. Dre reminds Han that one of his lessons was in perseverance, and that Han needs to heal from his loss, and tries to help him do so. Han then assists Dre in writing a note of apology to Mei Ying's father, who, impressed, allows Mei to attend the tournament.

At the tournament, the underconfident Dre is slow to achieve parity with his opponents, but soon begins to best them, and advances to the semifinals, as does Cheng, who violently finishes off his opponents. Dre eventually comes up against Master Li's students, in particular a classmate of Cheng who is instructed by Master Li to break Dre's leg. When his student insists that he can beat Dre, Master Li sternly tells him that he doesn't want him beaten, but broken. During the match, Li's student delivers a devastating kick to Dre's leg, along with a series of brutal follow-up punches. Although Li's student is disqualified for his illegal strikes, Dre is incapacitated, which means Cheng will win by default.

Despite Han's insistence that he has earned respect for his performance in the tournament, and that he needs to learn when to walk away from a fight, Dre convinces Han to use his fire cupping technique to mend his leg, in order to see the tournament to the end. Dre returns to the arena, where he confronts Cheng. Dre delivers impressive blows, but Cheng counters with a debilitating strike to Dre's already injured leg. Dre struggles to get up, and adopts the one-legged form he first learned from the woman on the mountain, attempting to use the reflection technique to manipulate Cheng's movements. Cheng charges Dre, but Dre flips, and catches Cheng with a kick to his head, winning the tournament, along with the respect of Cheng and his classmates, both for himself and Mr.Han.

Reasons to watch Karate Kid 2010:

Jaden Smith acts very well. He inherited his father's style.
If one of the objective of the movie is to promote the beautiful culture of China, then it was a great success! I wish malay movies are creative and good like this one.
Dre Parker moves to China to learn kung fu is more realistic compared Daniel who move to California and ended up learning Karate! (Karate is originated from Japan) xD
This is a great movie remake. The director keeps the story line the same, but he successfully remakes the content of the movie.

Colours of 1Malaysia 2010

The main highlight was the Colours of 1Malaysia Dikir Barat. 5,500 participants were involved to make it a success. A performance that was acknowledged by the Malaysia Book Of Record as the show with the largest number of participants. This was during the practice session. 20th May 2010, PWTC.

This was during the actual event. I'll definitely going to get the full version of this performance from RTM. Thanks to eyriqazz for being able to capture this although it was short.

NEXT paper aku lambat lagi. Jadi aku dah pegi jumpa member, ended up mengutip dalam sedozen anime. anime yang aku kutip in dilabel anime top tahun 2009. tapi aku belum tengok lagi. so personally aku tak tahu best ke tidak anime2 ini. Anime ini akan ku simpan untuk ditonton selama 2 months and 2 weeks, iaitu tempoh practikal aku. Yang mana agaknya yang akan aku paling suka, nanti kita lihat selepas 2 bulan nanti. Antara anime2nya ialah:

Do you need a happiness boost—right now? If so, take a look at this menu of options and make your choices. Remember, the more you tackle, the bigger the boost you’ll receive.

When you’re feeling blue, it can be hard to muster up the physical and mental energy to do the things that make you happier. Plunking down in front of the TV or digging into a tub of ice cream seems like an easier fix.

However, research shows (and you know it’s true) that these aren’t the routes to feeling better. Try some choices below. The more you push yourself, the better you’ll feel; but if you can’t tackle a big task, just do something small. Even a little step in the right direction will give you a lift.

According to my ground-breaking happiness formula, to be happy, you need to think about feeling good, feeling bad, and feeling right, in an atmosphere of growth. What’s dragging you down? Is it a lack of fun, of connection? Do you feel a lot of guilt, boredom, or anger? Do you feel that something’s “not right” about your life? Do you feel stagnant or stuck? Focus your efforts on the choices that will do the most to address what’s not working in your life.

Food Companies Face "Healthy" Competition

Some healthy, sodium-slashing competition has broken out among food companies, and consumers are the ones benefiting. Last week, Kraft Foods Inc. announced it would cut the salt in its North American line by an average of 10 percent in over 1000 products over the next two years. On Monday, PepsiCo unveiled a global nutrition initiative to reduce sodium in food products by an average of 25 percent by 2015. The company also has a 10-year plan to decrease added sugar in beverages by 25 percent and saturated fat in foods by 15 percent. Other companies, such as ConAgra, Sara Lee, and Campbell Soup, already have plans underway to reduce salt in key product categories.

Bravo! I applaud these industry leaders for voluntarily taking a step in the right direction. Regardless of the companies' motives—I'm not delusional, I realize these moves are probably in response to customer demand, government pressure, and potential for market expansion—I welcome all health changes to the food industry.

Doritos, Easy Mac, and SpaghettiO's will never be classified as health food in my book, and obviously I much prefer that people get the majority of their calories from whole, natural foods. But the realist in me says processed foods are a part of our modern lifestyle and here to stay, so a gradual yet consistent trend among food companies to take out more of the "bad stuff"—first trans fats, now salt, and in the future perhaps more sugar, refined flour, and artery-clogging saturated fat—is a definite improvement.

For heavy consumers of packaged foods, these changes could have a considerable impact on heart and overall health (for more information on the health risks associated with a high-salt diet, read my blog: Hold the Salt). Kraft's initiative alone is projected to eliminate more than 10 million pounds of salt from the food supply over the next two years. When you factor in all the other multinational companies making similar reductions, that adds up to a significant, population-wide decrease in salt intake (assuming consumers don't make up for the sodium deficit in other places!).

Companies are using their full arsenal of tricks—even a few new ones—to make better-for-you snacks and foods that still satisfy America's spoiled taste buds. PepsiCo has developed a new "designer salt" with a unique crystal shape that delivers more bang for the buck, so consumers get a saltier sensation from less salt. The company specifically created the ingredient to lower the sodium content of their original Lay's potato chips, but hopes to integrate it into other products across their brand portfolio. Other food manufacturers are replacing some of the traditional salt—sodium chloride—in their products with salt substitutes like potassium chloride. This allows companies to season food while using less sodium, the component of salt responsible for raising blood pressure.

Of course, when food manufacturers eliminate key flavoring agents like salt, sugar, and fat, you have to wonder what they'll be adding back in to preserve taste. Dave DeCecco, spokesperson for PepsiCo, says the company is moving towards shorter, cleaner ingredient lists, so they're relying on clever flavorings like their new couture salt and other natural seasonings to deliver great taste without using boatloads of additives and fillers. Rest assured, companies will do plenty of consumer testing to make sure their improved generation of products still meets customers' taste expectations—after all, your loyalty and their bottom line are at stake.

All of this product innovation and reformulation costs money. For instance, PepsiCo has increased its research and development budget by more than 40% over the past 3 years, partially to fund the creation of healthier products. But most companies say they don't expect these expenses to be passed on to consumers, which is good news for shoppers (and eaters!).

As pressure mounds to create healthier products, the packaged food world may be turning a corner. I personally await the new-and-improved version of caramel flavored Crunch ‘n Munch.

Another perspective - Best Free Antivirus

Virus protection is serious business these days. All it takes is one password stealing virus to compromise your bank accounts and other financial accounts and leave you open for identity theft. That is why you need the best antivirus software for your computer. The good news is that the best antivirus software is free for home use and as good as any antivirus you can buy.

Why do these companies give away the best antivirus free? They all have pro versions with more features that they would like you to buy.

All three programs offer Windows versions. Avast is the only one of the three products that has a version for Macs.

1. Avast Home Edition Free Antivirus

I have to crown Avast as the overall best free antivirus for, among other reasons, having excellent virus and spyware detection rates according to antivirus test results from AV-Test.org.

Avast antivirus manages to provide a simple and functional user interface, while also being very customizable and feature complete. The active protection feature monitors seven different ways that a virus could enter your computer, including Web browsing, email, file sharing, and more.

Avast also features scanning on boot up if you choose to do so. That's something you don't want to do on every boot as it takes quite a while. However, if you suspect you have been exposed to a virus or spyware it is the best way to detect and remove active infections.

2. Avira Personal Free Antivirus

Avira is another one of the best free antivirus products, but it is not as full featured as Avast. The free version of Avira doesn't claim to protect against spyware, but I believe there is some crossover between what is defined as a virus and as spyware. If you want to make sure you are covered for spyware you can use something like SuperAntiSpyware which also has a free version.

Avira has an attractive interface, but it needed more tweaking to get things to function the way I wanted than did Avast. According to AV-Test.org Avira rates slightly higher than Avast for virus detection. However, if the spyware tests were run on the free version of Avira the score would be very low since they reserve the antispyware feature for the paid version.

3. AVG Antivirus Free Edition

AVG is the most popular and one of the best free antivirus software products. AVG has a very polished user interface and is easy and comfortable to use. AVG detects both viruses and spyware in the free edition. However, in the test mentioned above the detection rate is a little lower than Avast or Avira.

The main thing that puts AVG last in my choices for best free antivirus is the amount of functionality left out of the free version verses the the paid version of the software. You still get good basic protection, but Avast and Avari cover more of the infection pathways than does AVG.

All three of these best free antivirus choices can be easily installed and uninstalled. You can feel free to try all of them to choose your favorite.

Best Free Antivirus? Five Apps Put to the Test!

Great question! There are lots of free antivirus applications, but I've never seen them directly compared. So I did the hard work for you, installing them each in turn on a test machine with about 16GB of data on it and running a full scan of each (including any options to scan inside compressed files). For each application I ran a complete or scan of the hard drive in the application's most thorough, high-priority mode. Otherwise, all default settings were left unchanged.

Below you'll find my notes about the interface, the software in general, and the time it took to run the system scan (plus how many files it actually scoured). While I can't provide much data on how effective these applications are at actually catching real viruses since I don't have a library of viruses to test, I have noted the virus.gr detection rating for each app, which is a good barometer for this. (I've covered these ratings before.) Finally, I've ranked them from my most favorite to least favorite app below. (Note that I'm only covering antivirus software here, not anti-spyware software like Ad-Aware or Spybot.)

AOL Active Virus Shield - TOP PICK! - virus.gr detection rating: 99.62%; total running time: 31 min, 16 sec; total files scanned: 224,565

The bad news: The software requires an email activation code (which means registering online, and which takes a long time to arrive). I also can't blame anyone for not entirely trusting anything with the AOL logo, but Kaspersky (see full review) actually provides the tech behind the antivirus software here, not AOL itself. It also installs an AOL search toolbar in your browser, ugh. The good news: The software is well designed and very easy to use. A progress bar appears during scans, along with estimated time of completion. Everything here looks on the up and up, and the virus.gr detection rating is exemplary. I'm a little perplexed about the missing 70,000 files that Active Virus Shield didn't scan that the other scanners did. (However this isn't necessarily a sign of bad security, as those files may have been identified as not prone to viruses, or Active Virus Shield may count "files" differently.)

Avast! 4.7 Home Edition - virus.gr detection rating: 87.46%; total running time: 49 min, 7 sec; total files scanned: 292,713

I'm not a huge fan of the Avast! Interface, which looks like a MP3 player and features such odd design choices as a "scan thoroughness" slider that looks like a volume control. How do you know how "thorough" this scan really is? Is 4 out of 6 thorough enough? During a scan there's no progress bar, so you never know if you have 3 or 30 minutes remaining. (Plus it's dog slow.) That sub-90% virus.gr rating is not exactly comforting, either. The software comes with a 60 day trial, after which you must register (for free, requires email address). Overall it's just too hard to navigate, which makes it too easy to misconfigure, but it works well enough. (Second opinion: PC World ranked Avast! last among virus scanners it tested in performance at catching real viruses, a fact which the virus.gr rating bears out.)

Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic - virus.gr detection rating: 94.26%; total running time: 14 min, 23 sec; total files scanned: 182,215

AntiVir is relatively popular and you can see why: It's blazing fast, even though it seems to be less than thorough at scanning all the files on the drive. But Avira has at least one terrible feature: Annoying full-screen pop-ups at random intervals advertising Avira's paid software apps. Configuration is about average, and advanced options are available if you dig for them. Overall detection rates look good, making AntiVir a good third choice if the two above don't work for you.

The apps below are not recommended...

BitDefender 8 Free Edition - virus.gr detection rating: 95.57%; total running time: 26 min, 52 sec; total files scanned: 301,157

This is only an on-demand scanner and doesn't offer "real time" protection, which all four of the other scanners in this roundup offer. A decent interface and comprehensive virus.gr rating (not to mention it scanned more files than anything else I tested) don't make up for that unacceptable drawback. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who needs any level of regular virus protection, even though it's very fast and thorough.

Grisoft AVG Free 7.5 - virus.gr detection rating: 82.82%; total running time: 13 min, 8 sec; total files scanned: 56,391

AVG has a tricky interface, with minimal configurability (for example, you can't specify whether or not AVG should scan within compressed files, and there's no indication of whether or not this happens by default) and no progress bar during scanning. With such a low virus.gr rating I'm not sure I'd trust it as my only line of virus defense. After it finished its scan in only 13 minutes, having scanned a whopping 20% of the files actually on the disk, I was ready to send this one back. (AVG is so popular that I went looking for a second opinion, and sure enough, PC World ranked it second to last among virus scanners it tested.)

Wah. Lamanya tak update blog. Tak tahu la nak tulis ape. Ntah pergi mane idea, aku pon tak tahu. OK lah. Mari aku kongsi aku punya current interest dengan korang. Cuti semester kali perhatian aku telah kembali kepada membaca manga dan menonton anime. Jadi, anime yang telah berjaya menarik perhatian aku ialah karya Hiro Mashima, "Fairy Tail". Hiro Mashima juga telah mengeluarkan satu anime sebelum ini dan mendapat sambutan yang sangat menggalakkan berjudul "Rave Master". Aku sangat suka membaca dan menonton Rave master. Tiba2 anime Rave berhenti pada episod 51 tanpa sambungan. Manganya pulok walaubagaimanapon berjaya ditamatkan pada episod 296 (termasuk epilogue). Sedih seh tak dapat tengok Anime Rave sampai habis.

Haru Glory is a boy who lives with his sister, Cattleya, in Garage Island. After fishing out a.... thing called Plue, he meets Shiba who entrusted him with Rave Stone or more known as Holy Bring. From there on, he embarks on a quest leaving his sister at Garage Island like his father who went to find Rave 15 years ago. He meets Elie, a girl who loves to gamble but has lost her memory. They met up with Musica at Punk Street. They have to eliminate Demon Card using Rave and is helped by Elie's uncontrollable Ethelion and Musica's ability of controlling silver as a Silver-Claimer. Unfortunately, they had to collect 4 more Raves in order to eliminate the mother of all dark brings, Sinclair. Together, they find out their past including Haru and Musica who both do not know their parents very well. They also find out the connection between Ethelion and Rave.

Sekarang beliau mula melukis manga Fairy Tail dan masih lagi ongoing. Buat masa ini, jumlah keseluruhan manga episod Fairy Tail ialah 161 episod, anime pulok berjumlah 7 episod. Buat masa nie aku belum ade mood nak tgk anime Fairy Tail. Masih terlalu awal. Baru 7 episod. Aku boleh habiskan 7 episod anime lagi laju dari aku habis makan nasik (exagerate gile kau...). So nanti2 lah tengok. Skali tengok anime 20 episod baru best. hehe...

Many companies have faced a crisis during their history, whether due to external forces beyond their control, through their own failings or management problems, or a combination of the two. Only a few, however, come to personify corporate irresponsibility through one pivotal event. Such a one is Exxon's experience with the Exxon Valdez.

What happened

In 1989, the Exxon Valdez oil tanker, entered the Prince William Sound, on its way towards California. In spite of the fact that the weather and sea conditions were favourable and the Bligh Reef clearly marked on the maps, the ship ran aground and began spilling oil. Within a very short period of time, significant quantities of its 1,260,000 barrels had entered the environment.

At the moment of the collision the third mate, who was not certified to take the tanker into those waters, was at the helm. The probably cause was established that the Captain and many of the crew had been drinking alcohol in considerable quantities.

What did the company do?

According to most observers, too little and too late. The action to contain the spill was slow to get going. Just as significantly, the company completely refused to communicate openly and effectively. The Exxon Chairman, Lawrence Rawl, was immensely suspicious of the media, and reacted accordingly.

Shortly after the accident had taken place, and the world's media had piled in to begin extensive coverage, a company spokesman pointed to the existence of procedures to cover the eventuality - procedures which the TV shots showed were demonstrably failing. When asked in Rawl would be interviewed on TV, the response was that he had no time for that kind of thing.

Meanwhile the operation on the ground was getting nowhere fast. Around 240,000 barrels had been spilled, with another million still on the ship. During the first two days, when calm weather would have allowed it, little was done to contain the spillage. This spillage spread out into a 12 square mile slick.

Then the bad weather struck, making further containment almost impossible.

After more than a week, the company was still giving no ground on the request for better communication. The media clamour became so hostile that eventually Frank Iarossi, the Director of Exxon Shipping, flew to Valdez to hold a press conference. It was not a success. Small pieces of good news claimed by the company were immediately contradicted by the eyewitness accounts of the present journalists and fishermen.

John Devens, the Mayor of Valdez, commented that the community felt betrayed by Exxon's inadequate response to the crisis, in contrast to the promises they had been quick to give of how they would react in exactly this eventuality.

Eventually, Rawl deigned to go onto television. He was interviewed live, and asked about the latest plans for the clean-up. It turned out he had neglected to read these, and cited the fact that it was not the job of the chairman to read such reports. He placed the blame for the crisis at the feet of the world's media. Exxon's catastrophe was complete.

Cost and benefit

The consequences for Exxon of its two-pronged disaster - the spill and its environmental consequences, alongside its disastrous communications - were enormous. The spill cost around $7bn, including the clean up costs. $5bn of this was made up of the largest punitive fines ever handed out to a company for corporate irresponsibility.

The damage to the company's reputation was even more important, and more difficult to quantify. However, Exxon lost market share and slipped from being the largest oil company in the world to the third largest. The "Exxon Valdez" entered the language as a shortcut for corporate arrogance and damage.

Conclusion

The features that made Exxon's handling of the crisis a failure included the following:

The company failed to show that they had effective systems in place to deal with the crisis - and in particular their ability to move quickly once the problem had occurred was not in evidence
They showed little leadership after the event in showing their commitment to ensuring such problems would never happen again
They quite simply gave no evidence that they cared about what had happened. They appeared indifferent to the environmental destruction.

The Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of crude oil into one of the most pristene and beautful places in the world. It covered over 700 miles of coastline. It was heart breaking. Thousands of animals died immediately; the best estimates include 250,000 to as many as 500,000 seabirds, at least 1,000 sea otters, approximately 12 river otters, 300 harbor seals, 250 bald eagles, and 22 orcas, as well as the destruction of billions of salmon and herring eggs.The effects of the spill continue to be felt today.

Crisis need not strike a company purely as a result of its own negligence or misadventure. Often, a situation is created which cannot be blamed on the company - but the company finds out pretty quickly that it takes a huge amount of blame if it fumbles the ball in its response.

One of the classic tales of how a company can get it right is that of Johnson & Johnson, and the company's response to the Tylenol poisoning.

What happened

In 1982, Johnson & Johnson's Tylenol medication commanded 35 per cent of the US over-the-counter analgesic market - representing something like 15 per cent of the company's profits.

Unfortunately, at that point one individual succeeded in lacing the drug with cyanide. Seven people died as a result, and a widespread panic ensued about how widespread the contamination might be.

By the end of the episode, everyone knew that Tylenol was associated with the scare. The company's market value fell by $1bn as a result.

When the same situation happened in 1986, the company had learned its lessons well. It acted quickly - ordering that Tylenol should be recalled from every outlet - not just those in the state where it had been tampered with. Not only that, but the company decided the product would not be re-established on the shelves until something had been done to provide better product protection.

As a result, Johnson & Johnson developed the tamperproof packaging that would make it much more difficult for a similar incident to occur in future.

What did Johnson & Johnson do?

Once the connection was made between the Tylenol capsules and the reported deaths, public announcements were made warning people about the consumption of the product. Johnson & Johnson was faced with the dilemma of the best way to deal with the problem without destroying the reputation of the company and its most profitable product.

Following one of the guidelines of protecting people first and property second, McNeil Consumer Products, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, conducted an immediate product recall from the entire country which amounted to about 31 million bottles and a loss of more than $100 million dollars. Additionally, they halted all advertisement for the product.

Although Johnson & Johnson knew they were not responsible for the tampering of the product, they assumed responsibility by ensuring public safety first and recalled all of their capsules from the market. In fact, in February of 1986, when a woman was reported dead from cyanide poisoning in Tylenol capsules, Johnson & Johnson permanently removed all of the capsules from the market.

How did Johnson & Johnson re-introduce the product to the market?

Once the product was removed from the market, Johnson & Johnson had to come up with a campaign to re-introduce its product and restore confidence back to the consumer.

1. Tylenol products were re-introduced containing a triple-seal tamper resistant packaging. It became the first company to comply with the Food and Drug Administration mandate of tamper-resistant packaging.(Mitchell 1989) Furthermore, they promoted caplets, which are more resistant to tampering.

2. In order to motivate consumers to buy the product, they offered a $2.50 off coupon on the purchase of their product. They were available in the newspapers as well as by calling a toll-free number. (Mitchell 1989)

3. To recover loss stock from the crisis, Johnson & Johnson made a new pricing program that gave consumers up to 25% off the purchase of the product. (Mitchell 1989)

4. Over 2250 sales people made presentations for the medical community to restore confidence on the product. (Mitchell 1989)

Cost and benefit

The cost was a high one. In addition to the impact on the company's share price when the crisis first hit, the lost production and destroyed goods as a result of the recall were considerable.

However, the company won praise for its quick and appropriate action. Having sidestepped the position others have found themselves in - of having been slow to act in the face of consumer concern - they achieved the status of consumer champion.

Within five months of the disaster, the company had recovered 70% of its market share for the drug - and the fact this went on to improve over time showed that the company had succeeded in preserving the long term value of the brand. Companies such as Perrier, who had been criticised for less adept handling of a crisis, found their reputation damaged for as long as five years after an incident.

In fact, there is some evidence that it was rewarded by consumers who were so reassured by the steps taken that they switched from other painkillers to Tylenol.

Conclusion

The features that made Johnson & Johnson's handling of the crisis a success included the following:

They acted quickly, with complete openness about what had happened, and immediately sought to remove any source of danger based on the worst case scenario - not waiting for evidence to see whether the contamination might be more widespread
Having acted quickly, they then sought to ensure that measures were taken which would prevent as far as possible a recurrence of the problem
They showed themselves to be prepared to bear the short term cost in the name of consumer safety. That more than anything else established a basis for trust with their customers

AS if Iceland does not have enough problems, McDonald’s has just announced the closure of its three restaurants there and said it has no plans to return.

Apparently, most of the ingredients used by McDonald’s in this crisis-hit country are imported from Germany and the franchise holder would have to raise prices by at least 20% to produce an acceptable profit.

The story was important enough to make it to the front page of the Financial Times on Oct 27.

According to the report, for McDonald’s to stay profitable in Iceland, the Big Mac there would have to be priced above US$5.75, which is what it costs in Switzerland, home to the most expensive Big Mac, according to the Big Mac index.

The Big Mac index is published by The Economist as an informal way of measuring the purchasing power parity (PPP) between two currencies and provides a test of the extent to which market exchange rates result in goods costing the same in different countries.

You can get a good exposition of how this index works, including its limitations, by referring to Tan Sri Dr Lin See Yan’s column on July 25 entitled “Burgernomics and the ringgit”.

Since this column is not into heavy economic stuff, I was more interested to find out where the most expensive and cheapest Big Macs are to be found.

As of February this year, the most expensive burgers were in Norway (US$5.79), Switzerland (US$5.60), Denmark (US$5.07), Sweden (US$4.58) and Eurozone (US$4.38).

Now, here’s the interesting part. According to the same index, Malaysia (US$1.70) actually ranks No 1 among the five most affordable Big Macs, ahead of Hong Kong (US$1.71), China (US$1.83), Thailand (US$1.86) and Sri Lanka (US$1.95).

To be frank, I am not a real fan of fast food but when I am overseas and am at a loss as to what to eat, it is quite comforting to be able to step into a McDonald’s, KFC or Pizza Hut outlet, and order familiar items.

We also have to understand why some of our overseas friends do not like to be too adventurous with our wide array of Malaysian hawker fare, especially when they are on a short trip. There’s nothing worse than having to repeatedly run to the toilet because their stomachs are not accustomed to our delicious, spicy stuff.

Still on the same subject, I am trying to figure out why the fast-food joints are increasing the number of their 24-hour outlets.

In my neighbourhood, they compete with the Syeds and other 24-hour teh tarik outlets, and for the life of me, I cannot imagine anyone preferring a snack plate of original recipe chicken over a piping hot bowl of sup kambing in the hours after midnight, or a Big Mac over the Ramly burger sold at the roadside stall.

But they have obviously done their research, and I suppose my preferences are fast being overtaken by more global taste buds. That may well impact on the Burgernomics figures eventually, since prices are determined to a large extent by supply and demand.

I like to think that I’m doing my bit to keep Malaysia in the top ranking for most affordable Big Macs – by sticking to my teh tarik and roti canai during EPL matches.

McDonald's closes in Iceland as currency collapse takes a bite out of Big Mac profits

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) -- The Big Mac, long a symbol of globalization, has become the latest victim of this tiny island nation's overexposure to the world financial crisis.

Iceland's three McDonald's restaurants -- all in the capital Reykjavik -- will close next weekend, as the franchise owner gives in to falling profits caused by the collapse in the Icelandic krona.

"The economic situation has just made it too expensive for us," Magnus Ogmundsson, the managing director of Lyst Hr., McDonald's franchise holder in Iceland, told The Associated Press by telephone on Monday.

Lyst was bound by McDonald's requirement that it import all the goods required for its restaurants -- from packaging to meat and cheeses -- from Germany.

Costs had doubled over the past year because of the fall in the krona currency and high import tariffs on imported goods, Ogmundsson said, making it impossible for the company to raise prices further and remain competitive with competitors that use locally sourced produce.

A Big Mac in Reykjavik already retails for 650 krona ($5.29). But the 20 percent increase needed to make a decent profit would have pushed that to 780 krona ($6.36), he said.

That would have made the Icelandic version of the burger the most expensive in the world, a title currently held jointly by Switzerland and Norway where it costs $5.75, according to The Economist magazine's 2009 Big Mac index.

The decision to shutter the Icelandic franchise was taken in agreement with McDonald's Inc., Ogmundsson said, after a review of several months.

"The unique operational complexity of doing business in Iceland combined with the very challenging economic climate in the country makes it financially prohibitive to continue the business," Theresa Riley, a spokeswoman at McDonald's headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, said in a statement. "This complex set of challenges means we have no plans to seek a new partner in Iceland."

McDonald's, the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, arrived in Reykjavik in 1993 when the country was on an upward trajectory of wealth and expansion.

The first person to take a bite out of a Big Mac on the island was then-Prime Minister David Oddsson. Oddsson went on to become governor of the country's central bank, Sedlabanki, a position that he was forced out of by lawmakers earlier this year after a public outcry about his inability to prevent Iceland's financial crisis.

Lyst plans to reopen the stores under a new brand name, Metro, using locally sourced materials and produce and retaining the franchise's current 90-strong staff.

Ogmundsson said it was unlikely that Lyst would ever seek to regain the McDonald's franchise with Iceland still struggling to get back on its feet after the credit crisis crippled its overweight banking system, damaging the rest of its economy, last October.

"I don't think anything will happen that will change the situation in any significant way in the next few years," Ogmundsson said.

It is not the first time that McDonald's, which currently operates in more than 119 countries on six continents, has exited a country. Its one and only restaurant in Barbados closed after just six months in 1996 because of slow sales. In 2002, the company pulled out of seven countries, including Bolivia, that had poor profit margins as part of an international cost-cutting exercise.

2 minggu aku yg sebelum ini adalah minggu2 yang paling sibuk. Tak lupa juga 1 minggu sebelum cuti raya. I got presentations almost every two days and several datelines to meet. Belum masuk task aku as a Special Task committee - Multimedia presentation, prepare excuse letter, parking lot reservation, prepare tag, souvenirs, souvenirs giving, prepare kit for participants, prepare program books, find photographers, registration table. Thanks sangat2 to Pub n Pro to take in charge of the registration and thanks sangat2 gak to Sponsorship bureau sebab partially take in charge of the souvenirs. Kawan2 yang melihat to-do-list aku berasa pelik:

"Er.. Jai, knaper kau kena buat multimedia dgn excuse letter wei? pelik dowh. Bnyk sgt ke task Secretary and Prep&Tech sampai ko kena buat kerja diorang?"

Bile buat checklist ape yang dah buat dan yang belum buat, Ta Daa... sampai 2 pages to-do-list aku.Tak cukup tidur aku jadinye. Ini of course dah jadi benda biasa bagi kebanyakan students. Ape yang membezakannya ialah berapa hari yang aku tak cukup tido tu dan kemampuan diri aku.

Setiap kali aku tengok to-do-list aku, aku rasa susah nak bernafas. 2 pages of to-do-list, and the program are just around the corner - this is too much for me. Beyond my capability. I can't do this all by myself. Doa2 harian aku mula penuh dgn doa2 untuk mencari kekuatan untuk melakukan semua ini.

"Ya Allah, aku sabar dgn apa jua cabaran dan dugaan Kau berikan kepada aku, dan aku tak kan menyesal atau menyalahkan sesiapa. Aku redha dgn semua ini kerana aku tahu Kau telah menyediakan sesuatu yang lebih baik untuk aku kelak. Apa yang aku mahu, Kau berikan aku kekuatan and permudahkan juga semua urusanku. Amin..."

Kisah Tag

Tag adalah kerja yang aku buat all-out sebelum cuti raya sampai tak tido malam. Ape yang mencabar disini ialah semua committee members are paying RM10 for each tag. sebab diorg nak material keras. fuyyoh. Msg yang sampai kpd aku ialah, "kau kena buat yang tag yang terbaik untuk diorang nih!" Serious weh. aku dah lama gile tak design tag. And ini pertama kali aku conduct photography session. So jawabnye, ramai la yang tak berpuas hari dgn kualiti gambar diorang. Ade yang cakap nampak lebih tembam, lebih gelap, lebih cerah, ade yang complaint nampak lebih cantik pon ade. Aku yg amatur bab2 fotography and buat tag ni tak dapat nak technically detect apakah punca masalah sumer ini. Kalau ade orang pakar sudi nak tengok tag2 aku dan bagi pendapat, silakan ye. Kalau tak aku tak belajar ape2 yang baru dalam aktiviti buat tag kali ini.

Yang ni Emilia menjadi saksi. The final part yang aku buat dlm tag tu ialah cover belakang tag. aku tulis phone number sumer head committee. Masa tu dah pukul 12am. Mata dah ngantok. Emi pon dok menunggu dgn tabah tag aku sehingga siap di HS Cafe. Tengah2 taip nama sumer komiti - dah siap taip n design dah pon. Tibe2 semuanye hilang. Dari A sampai Z. Ya ampoooon.... Terus aku jadi segar. Ape aku da tekan? Adoi. Last2, aku suro Emi baca sumer nama komiti dan phone number, aku taip laju2. So akibatnye page belakang jadi hentam keromo. Capitalize dan yang tak capital habis campur adok. Maaf ye kawan2. huhu.

Kisah souvenir

Aku beli souvenir sedikit demi sedikit. takut nanti kang ade terlebih beli. banyak duit aku dan komiti aku habis nak beli souvenir untuk VIP n speakers. Alhamdulillah. ramai yang tolong aku urusakan hal souvenir time last2 minute. Kesimpulan aku: Kita kena jadi realistik. kena tahu kemampuan kita. Kalau kita dah tak sempat, tandanya itu diluar kemampuan kita lah tu. Dan kita jugak tak boleh untuk berada di dua tempat pada satu masa yang sama. Don't keep it to yourself. Mintak tolong orang lain yang free. So disini aku bagi special thanks to Yana (My PM) dan sponsorship bureau yang sudi hulurkan bantuan uruskan hal souvenir.

Aku rasa aku dan komiti aku dah over budget beli souvenir. total up, kitorang dah habiskan RM200 just for souvenirs. Ya Allah. Dapat claim ke tak nanti. Kesian kat salah sorang subcomm aku. at least kalau dah dapat claimkan budget untuk dia dulu pon, aku dah sangat bersyukur. Yang aku kecewa kat sini ialah at the end of the program. Aku dapati ada pulak souvenir yang lebih. Ya Allah sedihnya aku tengok souvenir tu. 2 souvenir tu total cost RM60. Nanti dapat diclaim ke tak tu?

Kisah program book & backdrop

Alhamdulillah. program book aku memuaskan ramai pihak. Sangat2 berterima kasih kepada semua yang buat grammar check. Yana. Sir Aznan. Mira. Brape banyak kali buat grammar check and editing. Sentiasa ada silap. Itu aku anggap sebagai kelemahan diri aku. Grammar check yang terakhir dilakukan pada waktu maghrib by Mira. Huhu. Ni part yang best nie. Dari siang buat grammar check tak de pon yang perasan aku tulis tarikh salah kat program book tu - 13 August. Padahal program 8 Oktober. nasib baik la aku suruh adik aku buat final check dgn Mira malam tu, walaupon Sir Aznan dan Yana dah lepaskan program book tu. (Masa tu aku kat luar tgh beli hadiah untuk rector. Aku mintak adik aku - which is one of the committee members to handle the grammar checking) So aku rasa mira atau adik aku la yang betul kan tarikh tu pakai fotoshop (bukan aku sebab aku ade urusan lain ketika itu - membeli hadiah untuk rector)

From one issue to another (How fool of me)

Next day on the morning, aku terlintas untuk tukar desktop wallpaper laptop yang akan digunakan sepanjang program ADwPR 09. Sebab current wallpaper time tu ntah ape2. So aku tak de pulak design any specific wallpaper untuk hari tu. Aku pon dengan la la la nye ambik je cover page program book (seperti gambar diatas) yang ADE KESILAPAN PADA TARIKH (13 AUGUST 09) UNTUK DIJADIKAN WALLPAPER PADA HARI PROGRAM 8 OCTOBER TU. Aku langsung tak sedar tarikh wallpaper tu salah. Aku telah diinform pada malamnye. But it was very lightly informed until aku betul2 terlupa tentang isu tarikh silap itu. Damn how stupid I am. If kalau korang tanya what will be the main reason of my recklessness, aku rasa kerana aku terlalu letih ketika mendesign program book tu. Malam sebelum tu pon aku dgn adik aku tak tidur buat program book. (which is aku dah tak ingat dah bila kali terakhir aku dapat appropriate sleep)

Aku harap semua pihak dapat memaafkan aku. Ntah la ape komen Dr.Norbaiduri bile baca backdrop tu. Takut gile aku nak jumpa dia for the next time. Tu belum lagi Rector dan Shameem Abd Jalil. Kesian committee2 ADwPR 08 yg berkerja keras untuk lihat Opening ceremony ADwPR 09 berjalan lancar. Kesian Sir Aznan dgn Yana yang tengah duduk sebelah rector time tu. Ape la agaknye perasaan diorang. Oleh itu aku ingin melakukan public apology di sini kepada semua yang telah terlibat dalam program ADwPR 09. I will pay more attention on this issue in the future.

Ok. Some task left. Certificate, excuse letter, (again, why me doing the excuse letter? secretary is so busy or what?) and to conduct a post-morterm. I will try my best to finish everyting by next week.

Nampak je kepala botak budak nie, aku dah naik teruja nak tgk movie nie. Mari2 kita lihat trailer movie ini:

Ok. Sekarang anda semua dah tahu kemunculan movie ini pada tahun 2nd July 2010 (Hey! It's on my birthday!) . "The last Airbender". Sape yang pernah tengok cartoon ini pasti tahu bahawa ianya sangat best. Kami menanti2kan setiap episodenya setiap minggu. Aku dah tengok dari season 1 sampai season 3. Memang best. Maka muncul lah isu ini. M. Night Shyamalan (The Happening, Lady in the Water, The Village, Signs) yang menjadi director movie ini. Sesetengah movienya bagus, sesetengah movienya adalah tak memuaskan. Animasi "Avatar: The Last Airbender" mempunyai reputasi yang sangat bagus. Punyai peminat yang sangat ramai. Jika penonton tidak berpuas hati dengan movie ini, dia pasti akan dikritik dengan sangat dasyat sekali. At least, aku sendiri akan kutuk dia kaw2 dalam blog aku nanti. Jadi kita tunggu kemunculan "The Last Airbender" di pawagam. Sebelum aku tamatkan post ini, tontonilah jugak trailer ini. "Avatar: The Last Airbender", which is the original/cartoon version.

Minggu lepas ade 3rd National Internship Challenge 2009. Saingan sangat sengit. UIA hanya hantar satu team. Universiti lain hantar 2 - 3 team. So membuatkan aku sangat respect kepada team UIA yang berjaya dapat tempat pertama dulu. So Team kami 'Vibration' tak dapat masuk Top 3. Mula-mula asyik down memanjang. Sekarang dah ok sikit. Dah pasrah. Biasa la tu. Menang kalah adat pertandingan. Lagipun kami dapat hadiah kategori "Most Collected Survey Forms". Boleh tahan sedap gak bunyinye. Tahniah Vibration. Kalau ade rezeki kita berusaha lagi.

Tapi ade yang menang sebab main tipu. Sounds to direct isn't it? Well, that's the fact. Kalau aku ditempat diorang, aku tak kan berasa gembira dengan kemenangan aku. Jobmarket pon satu. Sepatutnya perlu lebih peka, dan pupuk kan modul-modul kejujuran dalam pengisian aktiviti anda. Ataupon, anda memang mahu menyampaikan mesej kepada kami bahawa "Kalau tak main tipu, korang tak kan menang." ataupon "Nak jadi usahawan yang berjaya tak dapat elak dari corruptionn dan sebagainya." Begitu ke?

By the way, setelah menitik beratkan dari semua aspek, aku berpendapat perjalanan Jobmarket Malaysia Sdn. bhd. masih jauh berdekad sebelum berjaya meraih status 'Professional'. Jadi aku bagi satisfaction rate aku terhadap Jobmarket sebanyak 3/5.

Akhir kata, tahniah buat semua pemenang 3rd National Level Internship Challenge 2009. Semoga Jobmarket juga akan jadi lebih bagus dan lebih baik pada masa akan datang.

Dah enam tahun dah Jai kenal akak. Nampaknye, angka tu berhenti disitu je lah ye. 6 tahun. Lepas habis je IPTIM masa kat matrik dulu, akak layan Jai macam adik akak sendiri. Akak sentiasa ada untuk Jai masa Jai perlukan akak. Hehe... Tapi Jai mengaku, Jai memang sgt aktif join program masa kat matrik dulu. So end up Jai yang xdapat nak luangkan sangat masa Jai dengan akak.

Tak lama kemudian, Yassin come and join us. Dia kawan rapat Jai. Ape yang Jai nak, dia nak jugak. hahaha. Program ape yang Jai join, mesti Yassin pon nak join jugak. Sabo je la. hahaha. So, akak akhirnya layan kami berdua macam adik akak sendiri. Since that, akak nak tau x? Kami sentiasa bersaing nak dapat perhatian akak tau. hahaha. Jai rasa jelous tau kalau akak bagi lebih perhatian n lebih mesra dgn Yassin... Jai dapat rasa kak... Jai baca mesej2 akak dalam henset Yassin... Jai nampak mcmn akak sangat hepi setiap kali brjumpa dengan Yassin. Jai pulak xdapat mesej2 dari akak macam Yassin dapat. Dan expression akak jumpa Jai tak segembira kalau akak jumpa Yassin. Mmm.. Naper ye kak?

Masa tu, sy dah masuk tahun ke dua kat UIA Gombak. Atas beberapa sebab tertentu, Jai jadi rengang dengan akak. Pada masa itu, Jai dapat rasa betapa jai penting bagi akak. Pada masa tu, akak menangis dan cakap kat Jai "Please return back my former brother". Akak buat Jai rasa sangat2 terharu time tu. The fear of losing us at that time finally forced you to spill it out. Akak ade cancer SLE. and it is incurable. Jai rasa macam nak mati masa dengar akak ade cancer time tu...

Selepas itu, tak banyak pon perkembangan yang berlaku... Kita masih agak rengang. Lebih kurang awal tahun nie, 2009. Jai mula kembali kerap mencari akak... I need all the support I can get at that time. Dan Jai percaya Jai masih ade akak. Tapi... Jai rasa akak macam nak mengelakkan diri dari Jai. Akak cakap akak sentiasa sibuk. Belum ada masa lagi untuk Jai. Oleh itu, Jai biarkan akak dgn life akak terlebih dahulu, trying to be an understanding brother. Dan Jai nak akak tahu, tiap2 hari Jai tunggu akak contact Jai, just at least Jai nak tau akak ade terlintas untuk tanya khabar Jai atau tak.

Lepas sekian lama tak dengar khabar akak, tibe2 pada pagi tu Jai dapat that sad news. Akak, akak fikir ape Jai rasa time tu? The last time I saw you was 3 months ago. And the next time I saw you...

Akak ingat, dengan menjauhkan diri or tak bagitahu ape yang terjadi pada diri akak, akak ingat semua orang akan lega n senang hati ke? I'm not kak... I'm not... I am deeply missing you... You left me at the time when I needed you the most...

Movie Review - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Hehe... aku pon tak tau nak komen ape pasal movie nie. Rasanya semua org berpuas hati dengan movie nie. Dan rasanya most of you already went to cinema to watch this incredible movie.

Ramai kawan2 cakap, "Serious wei. Aku asyik tak de chance nak tgk Transformers kat wayang. Tiket asyik habis je."

Aku pon jawab, "Aku dah tengok dah. Best gile wei. Susah aku nk terangkn kat ko. Best! Dah la dua jam stengah diorang buat movie tu. huhu..." Tertekan diorg. Hahaha... Tak pe2. Rezeki korang pasti akan datangnye. Habis cikai download kat internet. Tapi perasaan dia xsama la dgn tengok kat wayang. Transformers kot~.

So basically, movie nie mengexplain dengan lagi dalam ape itu transformers, asal-usul, misi diorg dan macam2 lagi. Aku jugak dapat tahu melalui movie nie yang Optimus Prime bukan calang2 transformers seperti kebanyakan transformers yang lain. He is a legend. Satu2nya golongan prime yang masih hidup selepas berkurun lamanya selain daripada the Fallen. Mantap! Golongan prime nie mcmn nak describe ye... Kiranya macam golongan atasan diraja la gitu. Asal2nya ade 7 kesemuanya. Lagi satu part yang best, Optimus Prime can fly! Cayalah! Muahaha. Habis aku spoilkan mood korang yang belom tengok. Hahaha...

Hai... best gile la movie nie. Buat masa nie cume satu je pendapat aku. Masa tengok Transformers yang nombor 1 dulu, kekuatan Megatron dgn Optimus Prime nampak equal. Optimus hampir kalah lagi kpd Megatron. Berbeza dgn Transformers yang kali ini, 3 Decepticons bergabung tenaga, baru dapat bunuh Optimus Prime. (Yup, Optimus Prime mati beb) Punya la kuat Optimus Prime. Dan punya la kuat gak Optimus Prime tu, nak dijadikan cerita, hanya dia je yang boleh kalahkan the Fallen. The Fallen tu... kekuatan dia memang imba habisla. Siap ade telekenesis power lagi. huhuhu... Best2.

Satu lagi, yang korang tengok dalam trailer tu, yang ade satu transformer tayar besar tu, yang macam gergasi tu, tu cume intro je baru. Kacang gile Optimus kalahkan ngokngek tu. Gile imba Optimus Prime dimataku ketika itu. huhu...

Pada pukul 8.15am, aku dan Adha tiba di Mini Audi. Masih belum ade orang disitu. Nampak macam tak de event pon. Jadi aku confirmkan semula dgn Ikhwan.

"Salam Ikhwan. Venue talk pagi nie kat mane?"

"Kat edu LT 2. Tlg bg tau yg lain." Ikhwan membalas. Jadi kami terus ke EDU LT 2.

Pukul 9 lebih - Dari atas, aku mula nampak Madam Martinelli masuk ke dalam LT. Muka beliau adalah di antara muka yang aku sentiasa ingin lihat dan rindu2kan. Dirinya penuh dengan sifat keibuan.

Hampir 2 tahun aku jarang mendekati program2 CENSERVE. Pada saat itu, jauh dalam lubuk hatiku, aku terdetik, "Agaknye madam ingat lagi ke tak kat aku nie... Bertuahnye klu dia still ingat kat aku..."

Beliau naik ke pentas setelah dijemput untuk untuk memberikan talk beliau tentang "A Training Guide for Volunteer Mentors". Perkara pertama yg diminta ialah untuk memenuhkan ruang2 kosong dihadapan. Aku terus segera bangun untuk ke hadapan.

Tiba2, satu suara memanggilku, “Jai?”

“Jai? Lamanye tak nampak Jai. Dah grad ke?” Madam Martinelli yang panggil dari atas pentas. Beliau masih ingat saya. T_____T

Aku hanya mampu menjawab beberapa patah sahaja ketika itu. “Belum lagi…” Perasaan bersalah terkinja-kinja datang ke dalam hati… Ke mana aku menghilang selama ini…

Beliau memberikan senyuman ikhlas kepadaku. Senyuman beliau tidak pernah gagal membuatkan ku rasa tersentuh di hati. “Jai ni orang lama AKHI ni. Dah lama tak nampak dia. Madam ingatkan dia dah grad. Nak tahu perkembangan dia cuma ikut blog dia je...” Katanya dikalayak ramai. Perasaan bersalah makin masuk laju2 ke dalam hati. “Jai mintak maaf madam… Jai mintak maaf…” kata hatiku…

CHALLENGES

Madam Martinelli mulakan ucapannya dengan menyentuh tentang commitment terlebih dahulu.

Commitment = Pledge or bind to a course, intention, policy or use

Dalam berbelas ribu pelajar UIA, berapa ramai yang menyertai kelab2 khidmat masyarakat UIA? Dan di antara mereka yang menyertai kelab2 ini, berapa ramai yang boleh kekal memberikan komitmen dalam melakukan program khidmat masyarakat dan dakwah ini?

Terdapat 4 cabaran yang terpaksa dihadapi oleh mereka yang berjuang atas jalan yang benar. Dan anak-anak generasi mendatang akan menghadapi cabaran yg lebih kuat daripada kita:

Persekitaran

Penyakit

Bencana Alam

Hedonisme

Beliau menerangkan bahawa 3 cabaran yang pertama adalah takdir dan ketentuan Allah S.W.T. Tetapi, budaya hedonisme boleh dicegah. Budaya hedonisme adalah taktik halus yang digunakan oleh mereka yang mahu menghancurkan umat Islam.

Hedonism = The ethical theory that pleasure (in the sense of the satisfaction of desires) is the highest good and proper aim of human life.

Sedang orang-orang Melayu Islam asyik berhibur (mat rempit, dadah etc), orang-orang Yahudi sedang giat mempraktikkan sistem mentoring yang sangat rapi dan terancang. Singapura sekarang turut mempraktikkan sistem tersebut secara serius. Pentingnya mentoring bagi mereka, sehinggakan mereka telah mewujudkan Minister Mentor. Sistem mentoring mereka sangat tersusun, sehingga diamalkan pada setiap peringkat umur dan lapisan masyarakat.

Mentoring is a possible mind setting building tool to achieve “Gerakan Perubahan Minda”

Beliau bercerita sejak dari kecil lagi beliau mahu menjadi an extraordinary person. Sejak dari tingkatan 2, beliau berani mencabar undang-undang sekular sekolah dengan memakai seluar panjang dan tudung, sedangkan sekolah tersebut melarang pemakaian demikian.

Ketika di Universiti Malaya, beliau turut melakukan gerakan dalam menegakkan agama Islam dan dakwah. Apabila UIAM ditubuhkan pada tahun 1983, beliau sangat gembira kerana beliau telah menjumpai saluran yang beliau impi-impikan sejak dahulu lagi dalam usaha untuk melakukan perubahan minda terhadap generasi2 mendatang. Beliau mahu semua anak didik dan mentor2nya mempunyai fikiran seperti beliau, untuk menjadi extraordinary person dan berani melakukan gerakan dalam memperjuangkan agama.

Mentoring is a matter of trust. Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement… (aku xsempat nak salin habis definasi beliau terhadap mentor... -,-")

HOW?

Mengikut pemahamanku, sistem mentoring yang sebenar-benarnya adalah seperti sistem pyramid yang diamalkan dalam MLM (Multi-level Marketing system).

Mereka yang dilantik menjadi mentor akan melatih beberapa orang mentee. Bila para mentee sudah bersedia, mereka akan menjadi mentor kepada mentee2 baru. Orang-orang Yahudi dan Kerajaan Singapura sedang mempraktikkan sistem ini. Dalam jangka masa panjang, kesan sistem ini pasti akan dapat dilihat. Orang-orang Yahudi yang hebat sekarang adalah kesan daripada sistem mentoring mereka yang sangat berkesan. Melalui sistem mentoring seperti ini, visi “Pergerakan Perubahan Minda” boleh dicapai.

Pada pandangan aku, mentoring adalah satu kaedah yang sangat effektif. Bila tiba masanya, selepas satu jangka masa yang panjang, para mahasiswa yang bernaung di bawah CENSERVE, termasuk semua yang pernah menjadi mentor dan mentee sebelum ini, boleh berkumpul dan melakukan satu gerakan untuk membentuk rakyat yang lebih baik dan bertamadun.

AKHI Quranic Camp

AKHI Quranic Camp mengingatkan aku pada kenangan lama. Time tu aku sangat komited pada AKHI Project. Masa tu ade abang2 dan kakak2 yang sgt sempoi dan hebat2 belaka. Really miss the old times!

Student ni nama dia Zulaika. Dah tingkatan 2. tapi masih lagi mengikuti program2 Kelab AKHI. Mereka semua ialah mentee2 aku ketika mereka Darjah 4 dan 5. Kedatangan pelajar2 ini mungkin telah mendatangkan sedikit masalah kepada para2 komittee, but looking at the bright sight, aku sangat kagum dengan semangat adik2 tingkatan dua nie. Mereka datang ke program AKHI dengan rela hati untuk belajar agama. Adakah aku akan serajin dia jika aku berada di tempat dia? Yang paling mengharukan, mereka semua masih mengingati aku. "Abang Jai! Dah lama abg Jai menghilang!" T_________T Mintak maaf adik2ku...

Key Facts about Swine Influenza (Swine Flu)

Swine Flu

What is Swine Influenza? Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. Swine flu viruses cause high levels of illness and low death rates in pigs. Swine influenza viruses may circulate among swine throughout the year, but most outbreaks occur during the late fall and winter months similar to outbreaks in humans. The classical swine flu virus (an influenza type A H1N1 virus) was first isolated from a pig in 1930.

How many swine flu viruses are there? Like all influenza viruses, swine flu viruses change constantly. Pigs can be infected by avian influenza and human influenza viruses as well as swine influenza viruses. When influenza viruses from different species infect pigs, the viruses can reassort (i.e. swap genes) and new viruses that are a mix of swine, human and/or avian influenza viruses can emerge. Over the years, different variations of swine flu viruses have emerged. At this time, there are four main influenza type A virus subtypes that have been isolated in pigs: H1N1, H1N2, H3N2, and H3N1. However, most of the recently isolated influenza viruses from pigs have been H1N1 viruses.

Swine Flu in Humans

Can humans catch swine flu? Swine flu viruses do not normally infect humans. However, sporadic human infections with swine flu have occurred. Most commonly, these cases occur in persons with direct exposure to pigs (e.g. children near pigs at a fair or workers in the swine industry). In addition, there have been documented cases of one person spreading swine flu to others. For example, an outbreak of apparent swine flu infection in pigs in Wisconsin in 1988 resulted in multiple human infections, and, although no community outbreak resulted, there was antibody evidence of virus transmission from the patient to health care workers who had close contact with the patient.

How common is swine flu infection in humans? In the past, CDC received reports of approximately one human swine influenza virus infection every one to two years in the U.S., but from December 2005 through February 2009, 12 cases of human infection with swine influenza have been reported.

What are the symptoms of swine flu in humans? The symptoms of swine flu in people are expected to be similar to the symptoms of regular human seasonal influenza and include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people with swine flu also have reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Can people catch swine flu from eating pork? No. Swine influenza viruses are not transmitted by food. You can not get swine influenza from eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled and cooked pork and pork products is safe. Cooking pork to an internal temperature of 160°F kills the swine flu virus as it does other bacteria and viruses.

How does swine flu spread? Influenza viruses can be directly transmitted from pigs to people and from people to pigs. Human infection with flu viruses from pigs are most likely to occur when people are in close proximity to infected pigs, such as in pig barns and livestock exhibits housing pigs at fairs. Human-to-human transmission of swine flu can also occur. This is thought to occur in the same way as seasonal flu occurs in people, which is mainly person-to-person transmission through coughing or sneezing of people infected with the influenza virus. People may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

What do we know about human-to-human spread of swine flu? In September 1988, a previously healthy 32-year-old pregnant woman was hospitalized for pneumonia and died 8 days later. A swine H1N1 flu virus was detected. Four days before getting sick, the patient visited a county fair swine exhibition where there was widespread influenza-like illness among the swine.

In follow-up studies, 76% of swine exhibitors tested had antibody evidence of swine flu infection but no serious illnesses were detected among this group. Additional studies suggest that one to three health care personnel who had contact with the patient developed mild influenza-like illnesses with antibody evidence of swine flu infection.

How can human infections with swine influenza be diagnosed? To diagnose swine influenza A infection, a respiratory specimen would generally need to be collected within the first 4 to 5 days of illness (when an infected person is most likely to be shedding virus). However, some persons, especially children, may shed virus for 10 days or longer. Identification as a swine flu influenza A virus requires sending the specimen to CDC for laboratory testing.

What medications are available to treat swine flu infections in humans? There are four different antiviral drugs that are licensed for use in the US for the treatment of influenza: amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir. While most swine influenza viruses have been susceptible to all four drugs, the most recent swine influenza viruses isolated from humans are resistant to amantadine and rimantadine. At this time, CDC recommends the use of oseltamivir or zanamivir for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses.

What other examples of swine flu outbreaks are there? Probably the most well known is an outbreak of swine flu among soldiers in Fort Dix, New Jersey in 1976. The virus caused disease with x-ray evidence of pneumonia in at least 4 soldiers and 1 death; all of these patients had previously been healthy. The virus was transmitted to close contacts in a basic training environment, with limited transmission outside the basic training group. The virus is thought to have circulated for a month and disappeared. The source of the virus, the exact time of its introduction into Fort Dix, and factors limiting its spread and duration are unknown. The Fort Dix outbreak may have been caused by introduction of an animal virus into a stressed human population in close contact in crowded facilities during the winter. The swine influenza A virus collected from a Fort Dix soldier was named A/New Jersey/76 (Hsw1N1).

Is the H1N1 swine flu virus the same as human H1N1 viruses? No. The H1N1 swine flu viruses are antigenically very different from human H1N1 viruses and, therefore, vaccines for human seasonal flu would not provide protection from H1N1 swine flu viruses.

Swine Flu in Pigs

How does swine flu spread among pigs? Swine flu viruses are thought to be spread mostly through close contact among pigs and possibly from contaminated objects moving between infected and uninfected pigs. Herds with continuous swine flu infections and herds that are vaccinated against swine flu may have sporadic disease, or may show only mild or no symptoms of infection.

What are signs of swine flu in pigs? Signs of swine flu in pigs can include sudden onset of fever, depression, coughing (barking), discharge from the nose or eyes, sneezing, breathing difficulties, eye redness or inflammation, and going off feed.

How common is swine flu among pigs? H1N1 and H3N2 swine flu viruses are endemic among pig populations in the United States and something that the industry deals with routinely. Outbreaks among pigs normally occur in colder weather months (late fall and winter) and sometimes with the introduction of new pigs into susceptible herds. Studies have shown that the swine flu H1N1 is common throughout pig populations worldwide, with 25 percent of animals showing antibody evidence of infection. In the U.S. studies have shown that 30 percent of the pig population has antibody evidence of having had H1N1 infection. More specifically, 51 percent of pigs in the north-central U.S. have been shown to have antibody evidence of infection with swine H1N1. Human infections with swine flu H1N1 viruses are rare. There is currently no way to differentiate antibody produced in response to flu vaccination in pigs from antibody made in response to pig infections with swine H1N1 influenza.

While H1N1 swine viruses have been known to circulate among pig populations since at least 1930, H3N2 influenza viruses did not begin circulating among US pigs until 1998. The H3N2 viruses initially were introduced into the pig population from humans. The current swine flu H3N2 viruses are closely related to human H3N2 viruses.

Is there a vaccine for swine flu? Vaccines are available to be given to pigs to prevent swine influenza. There is no vaccine to protect humans from swine flu. The seasonal influenza vaccine will likely help provide partial protection against swine H3N2, but not swine H1N1 viruses.

Filem Yasmin Ahmad, Talentime..Apa dah jadi? (yoyooh.com)

Talentime, filem Yasmin yang mendapat pujian ramai terutama dari blogger-blogger filem, termasuk blog kecil ini, tidak berjaya mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan dari penonton. Ini dapat dilihat dari hasil jualan tiket yang hanya disekitar (atau tidak sampai) Rm 500 ribu setakat yang aku tahu.

Apa yang menyebabkan perkara ini terjadi?

Mengikut survey yang aku lakukan terhadap beberapa penonton Melayu secara rawak, aku mendapat respon ini.

1. Talentime adalah kembar Sepet dan Gubra. Kebanyakan penonton tidak mahu melihat cerita yang seakan sama berulang kali. Mereka mengambil keputusan untuk menanti kemunculan Talentime di dalam bentuk DVD haram.

2. Harith Iskandar dan Adibah Nor. Mereak tidak mahu menonton pelakon yang sama dan membawa watak yang hampir sama berulang kali. Oleh itu, mereka mengambil keputusan untuk menantikan kemunculan Talentime di dalam bentuk DVD haram.

3. Strategi promosi yang mengelirukan. Trailer Talentime di TV disalah tafsir sebagai satu iklan/komersil produk kecantikan. Ini kerana sangkaan mereka Talentime di sini merupakan jenama bedak terbaru dari Silky Girl dan bukannya sebuah filem.

4. Talentime adalah satu tajuk filem di dalam perkataan bahasa inggeris. Majoriti penonton yang menggunakan 100 peratus komunikasi di dalam bahasa Melayu sehari-hari tersalah sangka bahwa filem ini merupakan filem orang putih . Sekiranya tajuk filem ini ditukar kepada ' Malam Pesta Muda Mudi' kemungkinan besar sambutan terhadap filem ini akan berbeza.

5. Trailer yang menggelirukan bagi sebuah filem Melayu kerana 'lagu' orang putih yang dinyanyikan oleh Hafiz. Ini menyebabkan penonton menyangkakan filem ini di dalam bahasa Inggeris.

6. Lagu Urdu sewaktu trailer, (apa ntah nama tajuknya itu...Ore Piya...kalau tidak silap) telah mengelirukan lagi identiti filem ini. Kekeliruan dan ketidak jelasan penonton terhadap filem ini telah mengakibatkan mereka tidak berminat mengambil risiko kehilangan Rm8-12 secara sia-sia.

7. Hero dan heroin yang tidak dikenali.

Ini adalah antara jawapan yang diterima dari survey yang aku lakukan. Mungkin ada blogger lain yang mempunyai pandangan kritis mereka sendiri tentang hal ini.

Kuala Lumpur International Bookfair 2009

It was on 18th April. Aku baru je lepas habis exam pada hari tersebut. Malamnye, best friend ku Yassin datang dari UIAM Kuantan. Dia ni student Majoring Biomarine. So kami sembang2 habis2an pada malam itu...

Kesimpulannya:

1. Dia sekarang dah ade awek baru. Feewit... Seperti biasa, syarat2 awek yg dia suka, awek tu mesti lagi tinggi dari dia. haha... Adoyai...

2. Dia dah ade diving licence. Bukan driving ye.. DIVING. huhu... Mak aih... Bangga betol dia ade diving licence. Sekarang Yassin officially boleh dikira penyelam berlesen diiktiraf diserata dunia.

3. Dia dah terbitkan buku keduanye yang bertajuk "Hantu Lagenda".

So pada keesokan harinya aku pegi ke PWTC untuk mencari buku tersebut disamping meluangkan masa bersama Coklat. Thanx Coklat kerana sudi teman... ^^

Coklat membeli sebuah novel tebal yang membosankan (katanya....hahaha). Aku tak ingat tajuk dia ape... Dan aku rasa novel nipis ini lebih menarik untuk dibaca. hohoho... Nanti aku da habis baca novel nie, aku tulis review nye pulok.

Kalau korg nak membeli buku secara banyak, sila lah datang ke Book Fair ini. Ade diskaun dari 10 - 15 %, disamping dapat berjumpa dengan beberapa artis terkenal jika anda bertuah. (walaupon aku tak kenal) Nak jalan2 disamping mencari awek yang suka membaca pon boleh. Hahaha...

Masa Earth Hour 2009, aku tutup lampu bilik aku, sekali dengan sumer lampu rumate aku. tapi xnak la gelap sangat. So aku main komputer. haha! Sedar2, satu jam (8.30pm - 9.30pm) berlalu dengan pantas. hahaha...

Kepada semua pembaca, kami telah officially releasekan iklan "Anything" dan "Whatever" kami pada semua kawan2 yang terlibat dalam pembikinan iklan tersebut pada 5 Februari. Tapi sayangnya aku tak dapat nak sharekan dengan korang walaupun aku nak sangat2 berbuat demikian kerana tidak mendapat kebenaran dari ahli2 group aku. Sayang beb. Hak Cipta Terpelihara. Kalau ade rezeki, diorang nak proposekan iklan ni kepada company "Anything" dan "Whatever" itu sendiri. I admit it that our commercial was very good. Our lecturer DR. Baiduri was very impressed. But personally, kepanjangan iklan kami hampir kepada nak mampos. Kire belom mampos lagi la. 1 minit dan 25 saat.

Dalam kiraan kami, iklan 1 minit 25 saat jika ditayangkan celah2 Buletin Utama untuk satu bulan, kosnya boleh mencecah RM 1.5 juta. Nanti temenong promotion team diorang... nak terima ke xnak... Tu baru sebulan, dan itu jugak baru satu kali tayang dalam sehari. Kalau nak tayang lebih dari sekali dalam sehari? Kalau nak tayang sampai 2 - 3 bulan? total up sendiri la kos nya. Kalau dapat pendekkan iklan tu 2, 3 saat pon dah boleh jimatkan beberapa ribu. Lagi satu, banyak benda lagi aku kena belajar dalam dunia merakam dan mengedit nie. Iklan tu pon bukan aku sorang yang edit. Ade orang pakar tolong. Aku tengok angel2 aku ambik, kawan2 yang xpaham tu memang la rasa best je tengok.

But above all, aku as part of this crew, memang nak sangat la company tu terima iklan kami. Amin... Harapan aku pada masa akan datang, aku akan ade peluang yang lebih banyak untuk menceburkan diri dalam dunia rakaman dan editing (Readers, edit dalam BM ape ah??) dan ade peluang untuk belajar dari yang pakar. Bestnye...

Asalnye, kalau xdapat nak tunjuk commercial tu kat korang, at least aku dapat tunjuk "behind the scene" pon aku dah rasa cukup puas hati. Tapi skali ade member aku yang spoilkan part behind the scene yang aku tgh edit. Tak ke panas aku... :><"@$<#%<@#

Ape2 pon, kalau korang betul2 nak tengok iklan yang kitorang dah buat tu, korang datang la kepada salah seorang ahli2 group aku, iaitu aku sendiri, emilia, akmal dan mira. Kami semua sentiasa ada di HS Cafe UIAM. Haha.. Muka-muka kami semua ade dalam post lepas. Bukan ape... kitorang nak kenal pasti kepada sape kitorang distribute iklan ni. Bak kata ahli2 group paranoid aku ni cakap, "Hak Cipta Terpelihara". Nanti dah copyright baru kitorang decide balik samada nak releasekan ke public or not.

"Anything" and "Whatever" Drinks Advertisement - 1st Day

::24 Jan::9 pagi lebih:: Kami berkumpul di HS Kafe sebelum bertolak ke tempat shooting kami. Lepas sumer dah breakfast, tunggo Bro. Ben sampai dulu. Dia bagi kitorang sewa lighting dia dgn RM 160 untuk dua batang. Murah tuu... Ade satu company yang kami ade try nak mintak sewa, dia boleh bagi full package of production items. Skali RM1000++ da... mane nak cari duit.

Pukul 10 something kami bergerak ke rumah kawan kami di Bangi. Rumah kawan kami di bangi tu akan berkahwin pada 25hb. Namanye Amilia. Dia tu baik. "Korang buat la ape korang nak dgn pelamin aku nie. Asalkan jangan rosak sudah. Haha!" Kata Amilia. Sportingnye ko dan satu family ko. Nanti kitorang bagi korang free air ANYTHING dan WHATEVER kami. Haha...

Satu kereta 4 orang, so total crew kitorang ada 12 orang. The main crew is 4 people only. Iaitu aku, Mira, Akmal dan Emilia. Yang selebihnya ialah rakan2 seperjuangan yang sedia menghulurkan bantuan. Mira in charge bahagian directing dan dia la master mind kitorang. Nad yang baik hati ikut kitorang dan membawa dua konconya yang sangat banyak membantu. Amy in charge bahagian technical stuffs dan semua item2 yang berkaitan dalam menjayakan advertisement ini. Akmal in charge bahagian modelling. So, crew dan para pelakon yang selebihnya ialah yang direcruit oleh Akmal. Antaranya ialah Ecam, Yana, Said Kamil dan Omar. (alamak, aku rasa macam tertinggal lagi satu nama pelakon tapi ta tau sape) Diorang sumer sangat memahami. Sanggup tak balik cuti semester! Really thankful to all of you!

Di tempat kejadian, Said Kamil dan Yana sebagai pelakon utama terus bersiap untuk berlakon dengan mamakai baju pengantin. Thanks to Mahfuz dan Mira. Mak cik Mahfuz sangat baik. Kami dapat pinjam semua kelengkapan pada pakaian pengantin secara FREE OF CHARGE! Jangan main2. Mira pulok jadi kaki bodek yang sangat berjaya pada hari tu. Satu2 dia mintak, sumer pon dapat. Mahkota, Make up box, segala benda2 yang tergantung kat baju pengantin tu sumer dia sapu. Hebat2.. Rapport sangat penting! huhu...

Shooting start lambat cket sebab banyak unexpected things happened. Aku 1st time main lighting jadi pening cket. Mane nak letak natam2 nih. Last2 pacak je kat tempat yang aku rasa sesuai dan munasabah. Tapi semua benda nie aku dah expect dah. So, nothing is shocking to me. Aku lupe nak ambk gambar lighting tu. So, aku masukkan gambar yang ade ternampak lighting tu la ye.

Scene dalam rumah melibatkan dua orang kanak2 berlari menaiki tangga dan mengumumkan ketibaan pengantin lelaki kepada pengantin perempuan. Dua budak2 ni adalah sepupu Amy dan diorang memang berbakat. Sangat mudah nak shooting scene diorang. Xbanyak songeh. Opss. Pelakon2 lain jgn trase ye. Huhu...

Scene 3::Scene bilik pengantin:

Scene akan dimulakan dgn dialog mak andam yang cerewet (Haha! Sorry Nad!) sedang sibuk make-up pengantin. "Kalau xcantik, jangan salahkan saya" Lebih kurang macam tu la dialognye. Huhu... Lepas tu pengantin perempuan segera turun apabila tahu pengantin lelaki dah sampai.

Scene 4::Scene rombongan:

Di sini pengantin perempuan datang ke sisi pengantin lelaki, dan mereka berarak ke pelamin. Di sini adalah antara scene yang paling mencabar sebab semua pelakon terpaksa berjemur di tengah panas. Thanks sangat2 to all!

Scene 5::Scene pelamin:

Scene nie adalah scene klimas iklan ini. Pengantin perempuan terkejut apabila ternampak salah satu hantaran adalah sedulang air anything and whatever yang banyak Haha! Yana bertungkus-lumus untuk membuat mimik muka yang betol. Kamil pulak berusaha untuk buat reaksi terkejut bila Yana pengsan. Thanks to Yana and Kamil!

So kat bahagian penutup kami akan masukkan tagline kami (belum di decide lagi). Sedulang "Anything" dan "Whatever" akan diletakkan betol2 didepan Camcorder kami.

Pelamin dan air kami

So, korang sepatutnya dah boleh bayangkan berapa orang yang telah terlibat dalam menghasilkan iklan ini, dan brapa kos keseluruhan. Group kitorang boleh je nak buat ala2 kadar. Tapi, kami sekumpulan telah bersepakat untuk gain a worthy experience throughout this project. Yang penting, kami semua sangat happy dengan apa yang kami usahakan. (^^,)

Hari nie aku bukak account 4shared.com aku. Lepas tu aku prasan, satu lagu yang aku baru upload telah hilang. "EH? Pegi mane?" Tajuk lagu tu "All American Rejects - Move Along". Aku teringat aku baru je share lagu tu kat dalam previous post.

So aku pon try la click download link ke page itu. Lalu page ini yang keluar:

Aku nak je sebot "What da f***?" tapi nanti jadi kecoh dan gempa bumi pulak kalau ianya keluar dari mulut aku. Is it unacceptable la lagu tu telah diclaim oleh International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. What's wrong with the song anyway?? Lagu lain yang aku share ok je. Pelik2... Nanti aku sharekan balik lagu tu. Aku nak tengok lagu dia nak claim lagi skali ke lagu tu. Huh!

Selamat Pengantin Baru Kak Miha! 2

Sesampai di kawasan perkampungan rumah Kak Miha, benda pertama kami buat ialah singgah di kedai runcit berhampiran untuk membeli hadiah untuk Kak Miha. Kah kah kah!

Ramai giler orang datang. Canopy banyak keping pon xcukup. Laku rupenya perkahwinan Kak Miha. Nanti turn aku kawen ramai x yang datang? Hmm.. Last2 kitorang pilih laluan alternatif dan makan di tempat seperti di atas. Haha. Pejalan kaki tengok kitorang buat muka tebal je.

Selepas makan hingga kenyang, Wady melayan emosi, Aizat malu2, Kak Zira dan Ct. Zoo control comel.

Irfan, Izzi dan aku hanya duduk berdekatan dengan pintu. Malu nak masuk dalam2 lagi...

Korang penah dengar x nama produk air neh? Pada 18 Mei 2008, Out of the Box Pte Ltd telah melancarkan dua minuman ringan berjenama "Anything" dan "Whatever". Unik kan nama air2 neh? Kalau korang nak tahu, Out of the Box Pte Ltd sebenarnye ialah sebuah media company. Kat mane boss dia terhantok aku pon xpasti, at the end diorang istiharkan company diorang sekarang ialah beverage company. Congrats to Mr Johnson Tan for this unique concept.

Now, what so special about this soft drinks anyway? Cube korang teka dulu... Kalau yang dah tahu, jangan begitahu orang sebelah atau mengada2 nak sms kawan bagitahu jawapannya. Sila tinggalkan jawapan anda di bawah: (Kah Kah Kah)

Sementara korang meneka jawapan yang betol, korang tgk dulu commercial pasal "Anything" dahulu. La la la ~

Konsepnya begini... Kalau korang perasan kat gambar tue, tin Anything warna silver, tin Whatever pulok warna yellow. Guess what? Currently at Malaysia, korang cume akan dapat dua warna nie je. But it has different taste in every can. So, the good thing is, next time korang nak beli soft drinks tak payah la buang masa fikir nak flavour ape. Just pick Anything and Whatever!. The different is, Anything is a carbonated drink, Whatever pulak non-carbonated drink. Bak kata orang Jowo:

"For those who make desicions as a daily routine, having something that has been decided for you is fun!"

Is it lucky or the opposite way? Setakat nie aku dah minum 3 tin Anything dan 3 tin Whatever. Hmmm... Dan aku rasa aku asyik dapat flavour yang sama je. Anything asyik dapat air yang berwarna Orange. Tapi, dalam list of choices diorang xde flavour Orange. So, I don't think its an Orange. huhu... Untuk Whatever pulak, it comprises of different kinds of tea. 3 kali minum, aku xdapat detect jugak perbezaannya. Haha! In my opinion, we teens are highly prefer Anything because it is a carbonated drink. I'm having fun drinking it. But don't forget to drink Whatever as well. Kiter main teka2 la... Ko dapat flavour ape, aku dapat flavour ape. Haha! Ni pulok commercial Whatever:

Why suddently I'm talking about soft drinks in my blog? Hmm... For your information, I'm taking Advertising subject this semester. It's a very interesting subject. Our group has decided to do all out for this advertising project. We have decided to advertise these products because it has a unique concept. All of us are doing our best. When we have finished the ads, I'm looking forward to hear comments for all my readers. For time being, go to your nearest super market and Seven-Eleven to taste the surprises in every can of Anything and Whatever. (^^,)
